It wasn't uncommon for Ignis to be out late at night. Between his work and keeping an eye on his charge, nights were definitely something he was used to, though most would say he was a creature better suited to the sunlight. Most of the time, he just offered those that dared say anything a cool stare and his back as he moved on past them. It wasn't really him being rude. He simply didn't have the time for such silliness. Not when there were always things to do.

On nicer nights, he would walk himself home from Noctis' and tonight was no different. The moon was close to being full, if not already full, and the night was pleasantly warm. The walk might be longer than most would like, but he enjoyed the chance to have some peace and quiet while mulling over the business of the day. Court politics could anger the calmest among them and the chance to think things through had left Ignis better able to handle such things.

The slimmer man was still fighting a fuzzy head and working to slow his thundering heart when Gladio settled his head on his chest and without needing to think on it, Ignis' hand moved to card clawed fingers through thick, dark fur. Even after his change, his digits remained slim, almost fox-like in build though there was no mistaking the wolf in the rest of him. He was lithe where Gladio was bulk and he knew they'd cut a striking pair when it came time to present himself to the pack the following night.

Sighing softly, Ignis let himself drift a several long moments before finally cracking open that vivid green eyes to peer down at Gladio, smiling a bit at the sight of the adoration there.

"Keep that up and someone will call you a lovesick puppy tomorrow night."

That hand in his hair. Scratching at his scalp is nearly as good as the sex they just had. A low rumble escapes him, more wolf than man as he happily enjoys Ignis' attentions, a smile on his face as the other peeks down after a bit and graces him with those words.

"They wouldn't be wrong." He points put, and finally reaches a paw like hand to pull one of those blankets over his back, nesting in comfortably since they were going to be there for some time. "Besides, that's fine. As long as they call me your mate to go along with it."

Tomorrow was going to work out just fine, Gladio would make sure of it after the morning Ignis had.

That same slim hand moved down, claws lightly tracing along his cheek and down his jaw before sliding along the side of his neck. The side that Ignis had marked earlier. A claw teased at the fresh bite even as those green eyes closed again, a low purr rolling through him.

"I don't think there will be any doubt about that. Not now."

A low groan escapes Gladio at the touch to his mating mark, whole body pressing up closer against Ignis, even shifting himself inside him. It felt so damn good to be touched there by his mate, and Gladio is near boneless with pleasure, ready to drift off.

There was that contented, sated mate but Gladio's words stirred a purely human emotion in him. It made his heart skip a beat and just like the first time he'd heard Gladio say that he loved him, his stomach flipped over. Even now, after so long, his lover could still have that effect on him.

With a soft, content sigh, Ignis settled in himself, knowing that he'd be tied to Gladio for some time. It was something he'd grown used to and in truth, didn't mind it at all (save that time right before his first shift). It left him feeling cherished and loved and protected even though they both knew that he could handle himself.

"And I love you, my Gladio. Always."

The words were soft, as if he didn't want to disturb the big were if he'd already drifted off.

If anyone could wear the shield out. It would surely be Ignis. Gladio sticks to his mate happily all night, only waking up just briefly to shift and separate them. He cleans them both off just briefly enough not to regret being sticky in the morning before his large weight curls on top of his mate again, soft snores escaping him as the moon sets and the sun rises.

When he wakes up again, he spends his brief moment alone watching his mates face, the soft look Ignis has when it is just them, how relaxed he can be like this.

"Hey babe," He rumbles Ignis wakes, nuzzling at him scratchily. "My mate."

Few ever saw Ignis unguarded and undone like that. Noctis had, of course and not for the same reasons that Gladio had. His had been simply because they'd known each other for as long as they could remember. Gladio though... only he saw Ignis fresh and simple in the pale wash of morning sun.

There'd been a soft sigh as Gladio had pulled away and a mumble of protest when he'd cleaned them up, but he hadn't let himself wake up. It was a clear sign of just how much Ignis trusted his partner. When morning came, Ignis had shifted back as well, his hair a soft pile atop his head. There were already fading marks littering his fair skin from their evening together but the mating mark remained vivid, though no longer raw as it had been mere hours ago.

Gladio's nuzzling pulled a low grumble of protest from Ignis even as he reached up to idly pat in the general direction of his mate's... head? Shoulder? Something.

Absolutely beautiful. Gladio adores him so damn much and it shows in every soft moment they have together. The shield can be rough and snarl and very much a dominant force expected to be able to fight and lead, but as Ignis mate, as his boyfriend, they were a tram and made many of their decisions together.

He laughs softly at the grumpy noise from the other, leaning up to kiss his brow.

"Alright I know babe, coffee first. Let me go get it for you, okay?"

He rolls off of his mate, a hand traveling over that visible mating mark with open appreciation. Soon the smell of Ebony will fill the air and tempt the nesting were out of bed, but until then Gladio will make breakfast while he waits for it to brew so that he can spoil- And in a way,continue to court- Him.

There was a soft grunt that time as one wintergreen eyes cracked open just enough to follow Gladio as he left the bedroom. Waking up so luxuriously was something that Ignis was starting to grow fond of. Normally, he'd be up well before dawn and busy at work as the sun slipped into the sky but since his shift, he'd bee allowed some space and more free time than he'd had in years. In a way, he felt bad about it but he knew that the entirety of the pack was given the full three days of the full moon off, so he tried to temper his misgivings with that knowledge.

Sighing under his breath, he let himself doze back off for a while until the scent of his precious Ebony teased him back awake. Groaning, he blindly reached out to run a hand along Gladio's usual side of the bed only to find it not only empty, but cool. A few minutes later and a still nude and sleepy Ignis wandered out into the living room, idly scratching at the edges of the healing mating mark.

Gladio had managed to put on boxers since he was cooking, bot other than that the tattooed expanse of his back from the kitchen is what greets Ignis as he pads out. Leftover meat that had not made it into the stew being cooked and tossed together with eggs to make omelettes, a big steaming mug of coffee already sat out for Ignis waiting for him next to Gladio's morning shake. It's a scene entirely more domestic than one might expect, but with Ignis not needing to be up so early with his new status every single day, it has become more commonplace.

"Mornin sleepyhead, come get your coffee."

Gladio calls out, looking over his shoulder and flashing a grin at the man. Long red scratches from Ignis' nails are bright between the thick lines of his tattoo, but by evening they will have mostly faded out again due to enhanced healing.

Ignis had never been a fan of nudity in the kitchen but thanks to Gladio, even that rule of his was slowly slipping from time to time. Still, when it came down to cooking, that meant at least a minimum of clothing. Astrals forbid something splattered and scorched something important after all.

The simple domesticity of it all wasn't lost on Ignis. In fact, he damn near craved it when he could have the time for it. He'd always been one to take care of everyone else so when Gladio did it for him, it never failed to draw a small smile from the adviser. It earned Gladio a quick kiss on to his bare shoulder even as Ignis reached for the offered coffee with a pleased murmur.

"You should've woke me up, love."

He rumbles happily at that quick kiss, looking pleased as punch while Ignis starts working on his coffee. He knows his mate will be up and perky not too long from now, but he always treasures this soft, sleepy, and even slightly side of the other he knows only he really gets to see.

"It's no problem, babe. We've got the whole morning ahead just for us "

Of couse, now they have to show up for the pack meeting tonight, but that can be thought about at a later time.

For once, Ignis didn't bother to grab his phone so he could go over any messages that might be waiting for him. He knew that if something had happened, he would've been called directly as would Gladio, so both of them having a peaceful morning meant no emergencies. That was enough of a reason for Ignis to let himself sink into one of the chairs at their little table so he could nurse his coffee while the rest of his body and brain woke up a bit more.

"I always wondered what weres did the morning after a full moon. I imagined something more... exotic."

There was faint amusement in his still scratchy voice.

He chuckles a bit at that, turning off the stove and plating the omelettes to bring over to his mate. Gladio looks bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning, but he keeps his voice low and warm as he sets it in front of the other, pulling into the chair next to him.

"Mm, I mean, I could take these off." He teases, snapping the band of his boxers before tucking into his food. "But it's usually relaxed, although some of the younger and unmated in the pack sleep in piles you have to keep from tripping over."

Of course, he could always take Ignis somewhere exotic to bring the feel of such. Waking up with the sun at a nice campground or in Galdin sounded fun to him.

The amusement was think in Ignis' voice even as he leaned in when Gladio moved closer. His breakfast smelled quite good and he made a silent note to thank Gladio later. It seemed that he'd been paying attention while Ignis had been cooking for the last few years.

The idea of 'puppy piles' sounded like something that would've mortified a much younger Ignis, if he'd had his first shift when most weres did. As it was, the idea of piling up with fellow pack members, while he knew most of them, certainly didn't suit him at all even at his age.

"I think I prefer spending my time in a more private pile."

"Mm, me too. Besides, I can just lay all over you now."

The mood is nice, and Gladio already adores this. This little vacation from their lives that they are going to have every month from now on, barring emergencies. Time for just him and Ignis to enjoy each other while not doing pack duties.

"And I wouldn't want it any other way, my mate."

He'd always loved those words, but now, hearing Gladio calling him his mate meant so much more. There had been no doubt of the big man's love for him, but now, there was something more there. A new, unshakable bond between them that quietly thrilled Ignis as much as it worried him. He worried that this bond between them might harm Gladio's status, or cause Noctis some trouble in some offhand way, but Ignis had always been one to overthink things. That was why Gladio was such a good partner for him. He rarely let him get too deep into his own head.

There was a soft, muffled snort into Ignis' mug as he quickly finished that one off, already readying himself to get up and get more of that rich, bitter liquid he loved so.

"I think I should be the one laying on you. You're bigger, after all."

"You can come back to bed with me after we eat and we can make it happen."

His eyes are soft toward him even as he continues eating, meaning every word of it. Gladio looks all too relaxed in their kitchen and drags a hand over bare skin as his lover gets back from getting more coffee, pulling him into his lap like he had the night before.

"Mm, and you know I haven't gotten my proper good morning kiss either, sleepyhead."

Another grunt from Ignis and sure enough, a hand moved to settle two fingers on Gladio's lips while his other hand was busy delivering that life-giving liquid that Ignis could be downright waspish if he didn't get enough of it. There was no protest about being dragged into Gladio's lap again, just a pointed reminder that coffee is necessary.

"Coffee first. Then kisses."

A chuckle from behind the man, and Gladio lets him go with no issue, amused but well prepared for the man's antics after living together for so long.

"Anything you want, babe."

And Gladio is content to stay where he is, be his chair and also eat the food Ignis picks at.
