That wiggle makes him growl playfully, and his hands slide from Ignis' hips to underneath his behind, getting ready to pick him up and cart him off to their nest.

The smile inched a bit higher when he felt those strong hands settle under his ass. This time, when he leaned in, he dropped a quick kiss to the tip of Gladio's nose.

He laughs, and then hauls his mate up as he lifts himself out of the chair. It's one of the rare times Ignis is taller than him, but they both clearly do not mind. He bites at his chest with a playful scrape of his teeth. As he walks them to their bed.

There's a low chuckle from Ignis as he wrapped his legs around Gladio's waist, a hand rising to settle heavy in Gladio's hair. A moment later and he tugged at the dark strands, pulling his lips away from his chest only to lean down and offer up a teasing nip to his lips.

Gladio leans back against the wall before they reach the bedroom, taking a moment to just kiss and be kissed by his mate. To take him in and his scent that told him so much. His love, his need, his happiness and most importantly that little bit of Gladio that hung about him to let everyone know.

"If that's what my mate wants, that's what he gets." Gladio murmmers, eyes a bright color much like his wolven side. "I suppose the real question is if you want me sweet or rough Iggy."

He tilts his head back, letting his hair be pulled by the man. Whatever way he wants Gladio, be it on hands and knees with the man behind him or sweet, gently pressed into the bed, he could have it.

There was something primal about seeing Gladio as he was now, this brilliant, loving, feral side of him but Ignis knew so very well that his lover had so many other things to offer. His strength belied a gentleness that few could ever fathom and if they heard about it, they'd likely laugh. After all, the big man was well known for his strength.

Humming under his breath, Ignis leaned in again and this time, the kiss was slow and searching as his legs tightened around Gladio's waist.

"Such difficult choices. I do love it when you're rough with me but your softer side is such a lovely thing to witness. Perhaps that would be best since we're expected to join the rest of the pack this evening. I'm not entirely sure I could walk properly if we continue on as we have been."

He can't count how many times he'd felt that same contact, but now, it was different. There was a drive in his soul, a desire to see Gladio grow into his role as leader and mentor and protector. He wanted to see him grow grey headed, their home full of laughter and light and love and family...

... that wasn't something Ignis had thought about before his shift. Before he'd truly become Gladio's mate. He hadn't even thought of things like family or something other than his duty, but there it was, some selfish little kernel of want burrowed deep in his soul that he could no longer deny.

"We've had so much time just for us, love."

Gladio was going to build his life with Ignis. Ever since they had become a serious relationship, past the initial shyness and learning about each other, he had known that. Ignis had not been a were back then, sure, but Gladio had fought for them hard to the point where it was easy to see for those who knew them that Ignis was so good for him. Gladio would have lived a human life with him no problem, no matter what it had meant to give up. And Ignis had known that every step of the way, because their love was more than just their backgrounds.

But now, now he does not have to give all that up. His mate, his love can be by his side in these things as much as outside of it.

That meant long hours and more Ebony than usual but he bore the weight of it with his usual calm demeanor and clever wit. At least, he had until he felt a tinge of illness coming on. At first, he ignored it as he always had in the past.

That evening, as he worked into the night, he found himself so buried in his work that he had no idea of the time or the simple fact that Cor had been knocking on his door for the past two minutes. Ignis answered the door with flustered apologies, absently tugging at the collar of his shirt only to pause and unbutton the top two buttons before motioning the Marshal into his office. Cor, thankfully, just stared him down. It was clear that he knew something was up since he knew damn well that Ignis was never 'sloppy' enough to wear his shirt like that... and he certainly wasn't usually so flushed. A slow, careful intake of the air and his lips twitched into a smile.

..... well. It was a smile for Cor.

He told Ignis that he really should head home for the night and when the adviser motioned the suggestion off with murmurs of gratitude at his concern, older man let himself out. The moment the door closed behind him, he had his phone out, texting Gladio.

The pack meeting had gone well and Gladio was more than happy to return to a mostly normal style of life with his lover and mate. It has been a few months since then and winter was, as always, is a much busier time in their live. With the expectation of a few days off in a row now per month, on top of the days Gladio can ply away at with Ignis'consent, it has made the both of them more relaxed as people. Knowing that 80% of Ignis' work and nearly all of Gladio's will be halted for a few days for the full moon makes the time apart easier, since he can spend most of it just curled up with his mate.

His mate. It still felt like a dream to him, on occasion, that the wonderful man Gladio intended to spend his human life with could also share his life as a Were. When things settled down in the new year as it normally does they had already mulled over the possibility of a human ceremony, but that was still months away. As far as Gladiolus was concerned the sooner the better, but he did not want to distract Ignis and himself from their duties when they were both content with a later date.

He knows Ignis may feel more eager after he goes into his first heat, but they seem to have time with that as well. Gladio had been a little concerned by the lack of appearance of it yet, but his mate was healthy despite being late to his transformation. There was not much else he could really ask for other than that, and when it does get brought up the two of them have a good laugh about how Gladio's had been set off a few days after their first kiss as teenagers.

Of course, he had not told Ignis about it then, being young and teenagers and afraid of getting rejected, despite the other knowing what he was. Over the years it had come out and was their little secret, something just for them.

When that text comes through, buzzer loud, Gladio had just gotten up and devoured some of the leftovers Ignis had left him. Night shift really messed with his schedule, but with only another day between them and the full moon he could handle it. The man reads the text with a frown on his face before going to throw on some shoes and pants, calling Ignis'phone despite knowing the other was working right now. Had he finally snapped at the catering company?

"Igs? Just got outta bed; How're you doing?"

The last thing he expected was a call. A message was the usual when their work shifts left them at odd hours with each other. The call automatically made Ignis a bit wary. Unexpected calls had a habit of meaning problems and that was the last thing he wanted to deal with. Not when he was truly starting to feel odd. Not bad, just... weird.

His tone was faintly clipped when he thumbed the call into being, tucking the phone against his shoulder while he finished jotting something down while it was still on his mind only to scratch it out. It... hadn't been as succinct an idea as it seemed in his head. Everything just felt jumbled and off kilter for the last few hours.

"I'm fine. A bit worn, but alright. Doesn't help that it's a little warm in here. Did you get some rest?

"You getting sick, babe?"

Gladio says with a questioning tone as he slips out the door of their apartment. Locking it behind him and shoving the key into his pocket. He hadn't even bothered with a shirt, too close to the full moon to fight his alpha instincts of making his presence known and with the excuse of going to the gym after. He heads down to the floor Ignis'office is on as they talk, not in too much of a hurry with Cor's vague message.

"I did, but I missed you. Sleeping in is gonna be great these next couple days." Mostly because of being close to Ignis, unintruppted and all to themselves.

"Cor told me he stopped by, he giving you any trouble?" Well, Cor or other weres in general. Most of them were still curious with how new Ignis was to the pack, but being mated had stopped most of the advances and courting before they had really started.

Just the idea of him getting sick pulled a low snort from Ignis. Him? Sick? It rarely happened and even when it did, he had a nasty habit of just working through it until Noctis or Regis stepped in to order him to take a few days off which just left Ignis feeling worse since he wasn't being 'productive'.

Gladio's concern was touching, but Ignis was busy. He might not feel his best but there were still things that needed doing and damn it all, he would get them done before the full moon so he could actually relax and not worry so much that he could've done more.

"I'm fine and no. He didn't even come into the office when he came by. Just told me to go home as if I had the time to even think of taking off early."

When Ignis put it like that, it seemed a little strange that Cor would text him like that then. If his mate was holed up in his office, what in the world could be going on for Gladio to need to go grab him? He does trust the man's judgement however. So instead of pondering for too long, he just asks another question instead.

"Mm, I know, you're really busy this time of year... Can I come see you for a few minutes anyway? I'm headed down to the gym right now."

After all, he's really only had texts and phone calls and the occasional warm spot on the bed of just missing Ignis to contend with for the last week or so.

There was a pause as Ignis sighed and let his eyes close. He really was busy and he really did have a lot to do but he missed his partner. He hadn't had a chance to spend any time with him the past week save such indirect contact. Sure, he knew he'd have a ton of time with him during the upcoming full moon, but he wasn't sure he could wait. After all, Clarus had told him to spend time with his new mate, to nurture their bond and while he'd thought that was a bit silly when he'd heard it, he was starting to believe it.

"... I think I can manage a break. Just for you. Stop by when you want."

As he spoke, his voice shifted a little, dropping lower and softer, a more intimate sound and he had no idea it had happened.

Gladio clearly notices that tone, and while his rumble of pleasure sounds tinny over the phone, Ignis knows what it sounds like in person, how it feels shaking through his chest when Gladio presses into him.

"I'll be there in five."

Of course they have strict agreements that they will never have any trysts in the offices, but that does not mean Gladio cannot come see his mate. After all, he does so miss him. Just this little bit should be enough to get him through. He tells Ignis goodbye so the other can get to a stopping point for his work and gets onto the elevator, making the journey down.

Just hearing that rumble from his lover tugged at his nerves and made his skin prickle for a moment. It was a sound he knew far too well and while he'd never exactly reacted that way to it before, Ignis just wrote that off as simply missing his mate for so long. Sighing again, he settled his phone on his desk and set about clearing away part of the paperwork that littered the space before Gladio showed up.

He had no idea why there seemed to be a knot in the pit of his stomach and while he was idly pondering that, he absently reached up to run slim fingers through his hair, not even realizing that he'd left it a bit mussed and loose from it's usual peak.

Gladio enters the office block and something seems... strange about it. There are only a few weres that work on this floor, and usually their scents mix and diffuse companionably. Today however he feels like everyone seems a little testy.

It does not become clear until he is at his mate's door, and he can smell him through it. He feels a little bewildered but knocks then enters anyway, the moment he opens the door stopping dead in his tracks as the whole of his mate washes over him.
